Really

Is the iPad REALLY that big of a deal? My RSS feeds have been FLOODED with crap about it the past two weeks and I just don't get it.
  1. It's not the first tablet PC.
  2. It's not the first device to use multi-touch or gesturing.
  3. It's not the first eReader type device.
I don't see it drastically changing the face of current technology, maybe I'm wrong.

I thought the iPhone was cool because it did a lot of things, nothing else did before. To me that warrants some hype. The iPad just seems like an iPhone Mega.

I Don't Think They Are The Same

I had a great conversation with the wife this weekend while watching the X-men Wolverine movie.

<<During the scene where they are making "Wolverine/Weapon-X">>
Her: I don't think it(adamantium) would just go into his bones. It would go all over his body, wouldn't it?
Me: Well they drilled into his bones and injected it.
Her: Yeah, but it would still go all over his body. It's just not that believable.
Me: Well, I'm not sure it's that believable that someone would be born with the ability to instantaneously regenerate any injuries they had either.
Her: I was born without wisdom teeth.
Me: I don't think they are the same thing.
Her: Well not everyone is born without wisdom teeth.
Me: I don't think being born without wisdom teeth makes you a mutant.

It pretty much made my weekend.

Ant

Until I'm doing builds I always forget about Ant. It's so powerful and easy to use, I should use it for more automation stuffs.

Half Life

Remember that cool idea Valve had about releasing smaller "episodes" of Half Life, more often? That was a cool idea....too bad they only did it once.

Random

  1. I finished Dune yesterday. It was my first time through the book and very enjoyable.
  2. I'm tired of snow, not that I'm excited about having to mow the lawn again mind you.
  3. The last two days I have spent almost entirely in meetings and my mind is kind of shot.

The Ticker

So there is a guy who sits near me at work that has some kind of coughing tick. It's not quite a cough, it's not quite a gag and it's not quite Klingon but he does it constantly. For a long time, I didn't notice it. About a year ago, someone pointed it out and now it drives me crazy. How do you politely ask someone if their healthcare provider is aware of their constant cough, gag, and/or hairball tick? Additionally, I think my throat would be killing me if I had that problem. We've dubbed him the "The Ticker" as our only defense to his hacking onslaught...yeah we're dicks.

Considering

I'm thinking about buying a Macbook Pro...

Have I become everything I ever hated?

I'm just itching for a new toy to play with and I honestly don't know much about Mac's other than buying an iPhone for my Dad at an Apple store was an uncomfortable experience.

Software Uncertainty Principle

The more you know about a software project's status in regards to its overall status, the more you negatively impact the project's ability to meet that schedule.

Translation

In the context of an adult movie, providing a sperm sample to a nurse sounds like an enticing proposition. However, that enticement is lost in the translation of that context to reality.
